Agreement on mutual cooperation ERCE with IMDEA Water, a public foundation from Spain

On June 22nd 2021 ERCE has signed an agreement on mutual cooperation with IMDEA Water, a public foundation from Spain which conducts advance research in water. IMDEA’s scientific interests include sustainable management of water bodies, water quality, water treatment and water reuse, mitigation of pollution and economic and institutional analysis, to generate knowledge and provide solution that contribute to the water sustainability of the planet.

The Mission of the Institute is to create an efficient model for the development of science and technology in collaboration with the productive sector.

W dniu 22 czerwca 2021 ERCE PAN podpisało porozumienie o współpracy z IMDEA Water, publiczną fundacją z Hiszpani zajmującą się zaawansowanymi badaniami o tematyce wody. Profil naukowy IMDEA obejmuje zrównoważone zarządzanie wodą a także: jakość wody, oczyszczanie, ponowne wykorzystanie, przeciwdziałanie zanieczyszczeniu zasobów oraz ekonomiczna analiza, dla generowania wiedzy i rozwiązań, które wspierają ciągłość zasobów wodnych na planecie.

Misją instytutu IMDEA jest stworzenie efektywnego modelu rozwoju nauki i technologii, we współpracy z sektorem produkcyjnym.

USA: ERCE agreement with the International Center for Integrated Water Resources
Management (ICIWaRM) under the auspices of UNESCO of the U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers' Institute for Water Resources,

signed at Beijing, China, during the UNESCO
Scientific Centers Coordination Meeting on 17 May 2016.

The Memorandum of Understanding is aimed to broaden the scope of scientific and technological cooperation.

PORTUGAL: ERCE agreement with the University of Algarve (Portugal) represented by Prof. Luis Chicharo, with the objective to promote the cooperation in the area of academic education - ERASMUS MUNDUS Master of Science in Ecohydrology (ECOHYD), in the cooperation of the Department of Aplied Ecology, Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, University of Lodz, Poland.
Scientific collaboration with the UNESC0 Chair in “Ecohydrology: water for ecosystems and societies” at the University of Algarve, Portugal - joint initiative of University of Algarve, ICCE, ERCE, UNESCO IHE, and other UNESCO Centres and Chairs (established in 2016).

CHINA: ERCE agreement with the Chongqing University, China, represented
by Prof.. Jinsong Guo (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Urban Construction and Environmental
and Engineering, Chongqing University),

signed on 22 October 2011 during the Europe-China Forum, to broaden the scope of scientific and technological cooperation
through the creation of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and by this securing the cooperation.

 

Prof. Maciej Zalewski (Director, ERCE u/a UNESCO PAS) and Prof. Jinsong Guo (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Urban Construction and Environmental Engineering, Chongqing University) signed the Agreement on JRC on Ecohydrology.

ETHIOPIA: ERCE in a cooperation with the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy of Ethiopia develop actions towards establishing the African Regional Centre for Ecohydrology u/a UNESCO (ARCE) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for dissemination
and implementation of Ecohydrology in Africa.

The input at establishing this Centre begun form staff education through 8 years of UNESCO traineeships involving 30 participants,
international study programmes (Erasmus Mundus Master in Ecohydrology - ECOHYD, with the cooperation with the University of Lodz) involving 33 ECOHYD students and 83 ERASMUS students, and 5 years of implementation projects through governmental
Polish Aid Programme (2008-2012) where, among others, specific ecohydrological solutions were developed and implemented in several demonstration sites. Ecohydrology developments in Ethiopia has been initiated by Yohannes Zerihun Negussie (Ministry of Water Resources of Ethiopia) who recently plays a leading role in preparation of the ARCE Center and all range of cooperation actions.
