ETHIOPIA: ERCE in a cooperation with the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy of Ethiopia develop actions towards establishing the African Regional Centre for Ecohydrology u/a UNESCO (ARCE) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for dissemination
and implementation of Ecohydrology in Africa.

The input at establishing this Centre begun form staff education through 8 years of UNESCO traineeships involving 30 participants,
international study programmes (Erasmus Mundus Master in Ecohydrology - ECOHYD, with the cooperation with the University of Lodz) involving 33 ECOHYD students and 83 ERASMUS students, and 5 years of implementation projects through governmental
Polish Aid Programme (2008-2012) where, among others, specific ecohydrological solutions were developed and implemented in several demonstration sites. Ecohydrology developments in Ethiopia has been initiated by Yohannes Zerihun Negussie (Ministry of Water Resources of Ethiopia) who recently plays a leading role in preparation of the ARCE Center and all range of cooperation actions.
